And they’re off!

Victory Gallop cordially invites you to attend the 139th

Run for the Roses

Saturday, May 4, 2013
Fairlawn Country Club
We hope you will join us for a night of wagering, silent auction,
Parade of hats, dinner, dancing and FUN!
POST TIME 5:00pm

The goal of Victory Gallop’s 12th annual Kentucky Derby Gala is to provide scholarships for its therapeutic horseback riding program. Some of these children we serve would not be able to participate otherwise. Funds raised will also assist Victory Gallop’s Petie the Pony to continue to make bedside hospital visits to children at Akron Children’s and Rainbow Babies and Children’s hospitals.

Pre-race betting begins at 5:00 p.m. on the silent auction items tied to the latest line up of 3-year-old thoroughbreds. Then guests will enjoy the “Run for the Roses” on giant screen TVs. There will be plenty of southern charm as ladies wearing elaborate hats and men sporting bow ties get their picture taken with a horse from the Victory Gallop program. Watch to see which horse claims the $1.45 million prize while sipping mint juleps, the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.

After the race, enjoy dinner and dancing and watch how the oral and live auctions play out. A Parade of Hats is always a highlight of this fun evening.

All proceeds of the Kentucky Derby Gala benefit Victory Gallop, a non-profit therapeutic riding center located in Bath Township that assists children with life-threatening illness and behavioral and or emotional challenges. This year’s honorary guest is world renowned concert pianist Tat Nagashima.

Hoe Down Fun….

Victory Gallop hosted its first Ultimate Hoedown, Bar –B-Que throwdown.  From the kind generosity of John and Mary Kay Chlebina who donated the use of their indoor facility to the fabulous food served by American Food & Venting, the evening proved to be a grand success.   The highlight of the evening was by far the Mechanical Bull Riding competition, won by Victory Gallop instructor Kelly Balmert (pictured below).

The event kicked off with professional Bull Rider Brando Davis explaining the life of a rodeo rider and the challenges

of riding bulls.  He was joined by professional rodeo clown Craig Miller who entertained the crowd throughout the night with his crazy sense of humor.

The night also included hay rides, line dancing and country western music.   Over 200 guests enjoyed the festivities decked out in fashionable cowboy attire enjoying beverages served and sponsored by Ken Stewart and House of La Rose.  Victory Gallop hopes to make this an annual event in order to help raise funds for all the families in need of support.

RIDER SPONSORSHIP

A Rider Sponsorship is the means by which Victory Gallop provides financial assistance to riders and their families who are unable to pay the full or partial cost of a session. It has always been Victory Gallop’s motto to never turn a child away because of their families’ financial needs. For that reason, we rely on the support of grants and private donations to help us subsidize this cost. Rider Sponsors are instrumental in making sure every child can experience the benefits of the equine – human bond.   The cost per session is $300, we host three sessions per year. A sponsor may choose to sponsor a child for a session or for the year.  If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please click here to download a Rider Sponsorship Form

Thanks for making a difference in the life of a child.
