Top-Ranked Doubles Team, the Bryan Brothers, Makes Charity Appearance in Montrose
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Jan. 16, 2012 - BATH TOWNSHIP - The world's no. 1 doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan, is coming to Springside Racquet & Fitness Club in Montrose Feb. 17-18 for the sixth annual Swinging for Victory Grand Slam Event to benefit Victory Gallop, a therapeutic riding program in Bath Township.
American brothers Bob and Mike Bryan recently clinched the year-end No. 1 ATP doubles team ranking for a record seventh time. The 33-year-old twins’ memorable 2011 season includes two Grand Slam crowns (Australian Open, Wimbledon), giving them 11 in their career, and two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles (Monte-Carlo, Madrid). They were also champions in Houston, at the Queen’s Club in London and Vienna.
These world-ranked tennis professionals take center court at Springside for exhibition matches on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. They will demonstrate their competitive match preparation by running through their doubles drills, discussing doubles strategy and providing tips to improve your game. There will also be opportunities for on-court audience participation.
The Bryan Brothers will then challenge Ross Wilson and Scott Green, the 2005 Ohio State University No. 1 doubles team in a mini-exhibition.
The exhibition is followed by a meet & greet and question & answer session with the Bryan Brothers.
Sponsored by the McLaughlin Family Foundation, this charity tennis event also includes a silent auction with Bryan Brothers tennis memorabilia. Proceeds from the ticket sales and auction benefit Victory Gallop, a therapeutic riding program for children with emotional and behavioral challenges and life-threatening illnesses. Victory Gallop is also home to Petie the Pony, the only pony in the world who makes bedside visits to hospitalized children.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children and are available in advance by calling Victory Gallop,330-666-0300. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the event. For more information, visit the website www.victorygallop.org
